bcb723 Though I like the term used for Dephosphorus as "Cosmic-infused Hardcore Grind," it only begins to scratch the surface of "Sublimation." Add in the sci-fi utopian worldview of Iain M. Banks' Culture series & you have the receipe for either a complete success or disaster. This album is very good most of the time and very great every so often. Listen to "Absurd Aftermath" or the death-defying tightrope riff of the last track for an example of when the album is perfectly firing on all cylinders. Favorite track: Absurd Aftermath.

Metallurgical Fire These musical genre ingredients don’t always make for interesting and mature records, but in this case Dephosporus have produced a compelling album that will keep your attention all the way through. The vocals, music, and production are all excellent. Favorite track: Προς Το Απόκοσμο Φως Του Πυρήνα (Towards The Eerie Light Of The Core).

about

“The most soaring, magnificent, ethereal cathedrals to reason, faith or anything else were as mere unkempt and dilapidated hovels compared to the constructions – if they could even be described as such – within the Sublime.” (Iain M. Banks, The Hydrogen Sonata)

“Sublimation” is an album recorded by 4 guys who appreciate good sci-fi literature and enjoy playing riff-centric, rhythmically intense underground music. It has been heavily inspired by the late Iain M. Banks’ concept of Sublimation, as explored in the master’s final sci-fi novel, “The Hydrogen Sonata”.
